We always recommend that customers do not operate their own web hosting
but outsource to specialists to access high availability, high reliability
infrastructures. These do however prove costly so we can provide access to
our reliable infrastructure on a shared basis to all our clients, to reduce
cost. There is no compromise on performance or security.
If you choose to host with us, there will be no need for additional software
licenses or hardware in house, a significant saving.
We subcontract web hosting to a specialist ISP
(Rackspace Managed Hosting) who are
a world leading provider hosting the web sites for blue chip names such as
Motorola and Renault. They’ve won Microsoft’s “Worldwide Hosting Service Provider
of the Year” for three of the last six years. Their data centre near Heathrow
and our servers in it satisfy all your possible requirements for hosting. We
offer a highly resilient, reliable high performance architecture on a shared
basis to all our clients.
Conceptually, the infrastructure is as follows:
Backups of our web server infrastructure are taken nightly and stored off site by Rackspace.
Rackspace offer an instant response to emergencies and a one hour guaranteed fix
time on any hardware fault and starting to restore backups, so within one hour
of the worst case fault occurring, backups will begin to be restored. This is
as good as it gets. In the event that we fail to meet this target in any
calendar month, we will refund you. Rackspace provide automated monitoring of
the servers and boast that they often start fixing issues before the customer
realises something is wrong.
We will not charge you for any setup costs for the infrastructure or for migrating
from your existing ISP if applicable. We migrate existing sites on a regular basis
for various clients and can ensure they go as smoothly as possible by advising you
what requests to make to your current ISP to improve the technical switch. It is
usually possible to avoid downtime though if we are migrating SQL Server databases
some downtime will be unavoidable.
We do not provide DNS services because separating them from hosting improves
resilience still further. We can recommend a third party if required.

Our hosting infrastructure is highly resilient & reliable so we make it

dedicated non-resilient server.
